Despite signing a new two-year contract, Lewis Hamilton threatens a contract change and retirement from Formula One.
Lewis Hamilton, a legendary driver in Formula 1, has hinted that his recent contract with Mercedes may see a sensational U-turn.
Hamilton last week committed his future in Formula One by signing a new two-year contract with Mercedes, ending months of speculation.
“We have never been more hungry to win,” Hamilton said after inking his new deal.
Every victory as well as every failure has taught us something. We keep pursuing our goals, we keep fighting through difficulties, and we will succeed once more.
“I appreciate the team’s support, both on and off the track.
We’re still working to accomplish more as a team, and we won’t give up until we do.
“.
Hamilton did, however, seem to imply that he might decide to change his mind and leave the sport.
The goal is to be fighting and win a world championship within those two years, Hamilton reportedly told Sky Sports, according to The Sun.
Currently ranked second in the constructors’ championship, our goal is to overthrow the current leaders.
I’m confident we can accomplish that, 100%.
Regarding the long term, I’m considering the details of and duration of my upcoming contract.
I’m going to stay here a while.
“.
But it could change, he continued.
Next year, I might just say, “damn it.”. You never know where life will take you.
But right now, my main priority is to remain upbeat every day.
I am aware that is not simple for anyone.
“Remaining healthy and fit while attempting to strike a balance between enjoying your life and your work, as well as your family and other commitments.
My current balance seems to be pretty good, I believe.
That makes it possible for me to truly enjoy my work.
“.
Hamilton has 164 points so far in the 2023 season and is currently fourth in the drivers’ standings.
The Singapore Grand Prix, which will be held on September 17 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, will mark the return of Formula One the following weekend.
