Colorado Football Coach Deion Sanders Explains Why Recruiting Top QBs Is Crucial To Being Elite Program
Deion Sanders and Colorado football head into his freshman season in 2023 despite recent losses.
Sanders signed Colorado’s coach last season to revive a program that had been one of the worst Power Five programs in recent seasons.
This season has been largely a success for Sanders as the Buffaloes have come out of the gate with some impressive wins before coming back down to earth in the last few games.
Sanders knows that for Colorado football to become a true national power, the team must continue to improve in the recruiting game, starting with the most important position on the field: quarterback.
Sanders recently detailed the need for big quarterbacks and how that is a common thread among elite teams across the country.
“Well, defenders are everything.
You watch college football.
If you look at back-to-back quarterbacks, you can see the consistency of their records.
Look at the Pac-12.
Look at the quarterback.
Out of all the teams that have the most wins and have been together the longest,” Sanders said, per Wade Peary of On3.
Granted, Colorado has a pretty good quarterback right now.
That would be Deion’s son, Sheder Sanders.
But the younger Sanders has up to a year of college before he can take his talents to the NFL, leaving the older Sanders on the recruiting trail to find the next prospect.
