Rory McIlroy’s wife ditched her flashy engagement ring as she stepped out for the first time since their shock divorce announcement days before the PGA Championship
During her appearance in Jupiter, Florida on Wednesday, Erica Stoll, who is 36 years old, seemed to have kept her wedding ring on securely. McIlroy, who is currently 35 years old, reportedly initiated the divorce proceedings on Monday, merely three days prior to the PGA Championship, which is the second major tournament of the year.
This move came shortly after his recent win at the Wells Fargo Championship over the weekend. Images obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com reveal Stoll without her $650,000 engagement ring, a cushion-cut solitaire ring that was given to her when he proposed in Paris in 2015.
After a 45-minute Pilates session, a reporter from DailyMail.com asked Stoll if she would like to provide a comment, to which she responded with a disheartened expression by saying, “No.”
Ignoring any further inquiries, 36-year-old Erica, dressed in dark sunglasses, a white t-shirt, black leggings, flip flops, and sporting her wedding ring, made her way back to her Mercedes SUV.
She concluded with a ‘Thank you’ and wished a good day, then drove off. On her way home, she made a quick visit to Starbucks for a warm beverage.” McIlroy’s PR team officially announced on Tuesday that divorce proceedings have begun.
They emphasized Rory’s wish for the process to be handled with respect and peace.
According to court papers from Palm Beach County obtained by DailyMail.com, their marriage was described as being ‘irretrievably broken’.
The couple, who have a three-year-old daughter named Poppy Kennedy born in 2020, got married in 2017 following a romantic encounter at the 2012 Ryder Cup.

A few months after calling off his engagement with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki in 2014, McIlroy and Stoll got together before getting engaged a year later.
The four-time major champion and Stoll kept their relationship largely private before they married in a lavish ceremony in Ireland in 2017.
The couple exchanged their vows at Ashford Castle in County Mayo, Ireland, in front of celebrity guests, including One Direction star Niall Horan and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, while music icons Ed Sheeran and Stevie Wonder performed at the event.
The petition for divorce states that the pair had signed a prenuptial agreement. However, the details of the arrangement have not been divulged.
McIlroy’s attorney was listed as Thomas Sasser, the same attorney who represented Tiger Woods when his wife divorced him in 2010.
The filing also calls for shared custody and a parenting plan to be established for Poppy.

McIlroy infamously split from tennis star Wozniacki in 2014 just months before they were due to wed.
The golfer is said to have dumped his then-fiancée in a three-minute phone call hours after telling her he loved her. Their split came in May 2014, before they were due to marry in November.
McIlroy’s split from Wozniacki came days before the BMW PGA Championship in England, which he went on to win. At the same event the previous year, he tied for 96th place.
During that time, he stated that he was not prepared for marriage.
Although he mentioned that he would refrain from making additional comments, he did respond to questions during a press conference that took place before the tournament.
