Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is already demanding plenty of attention from opposing defenses around the WNBA.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark is currently averaging 15.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game in 11 games played this season. Those are pretty impressive numbers for a rookie — and according to Basketball Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo, Clark has done it while going up against ‘unprecedented’ defensive attention.
The defensive attention Clark is getting as a rookie is unprecedented, sometimes picked up 94’ from the basket without the ball,” Lobo said in a social media post Monday.
“She does not get some whistles that she could and eventually will get. But I had not seen anything excessive or dirty until the hit on Saturday.”
The Indiana Fever are 2-9 to open the 2024 WNBA season but 2-4 over their past six games after going winless through the first five.
They’ll return to the hardwood Friday for a matchup against the 0-8 Washington Mystics.
