An NFL star threatens the opposition with “wife and kids.” before a rivalry match.
Roquan Smith has emerged as a defensive captain for the Baltimore Ravens, and the dominant linebacker made a play for the Cleveland Browns in advance of their Week 4 divisional matchup.
Roquan Smith, a star for the Baltimore Ravens, made the sensational claim that his team wanted to defeat the Cleveland Browns “in front of their wife and kids” in their upcoming rivalry matchup.
The imposing linebacker was acquired by the Ravens in a trade last season before the 2022 deadline, and he immediately started stealing games for the AFC North team. His mere presence has strengthened the defensive group, with fellow linebacker Patrick Queen finding his rhythm by suddenly appearing on the other side of the field.
Smith clearly has a passion for the game, and the outspoken star frequently makes news for his oddball responses during press conferences.
Smith attacked the Browns and implied what he hoped to accomplish on the Browns’ turf before the Ravens and their rivals squared off on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Smith addressed the media and made a statement that raised questions.
The 26-year-old responded to a question about whether he enjoys playing a division rival on the road by saying: “At the end of the day, you’re considered the bad guy because you’re going into what is essentially another man’s house and you’re trying to take over.
“His wife, kids, (and) everyone are watching them,” someone said.
In order to humiliate them in front of their wife and children, we are going over there.
“.
In addition, Smith said the AFC North was “the best division in football” and predicted the winner would be the “most physical team” in the contest. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens are all 2-1, placing them ahead of the 1-2 Cincinnati Bengals and the division-leading 2-1 Baltimore Ravens.
“You go in there as the enemy to go take over, and that’s our plan to actually go take over,” Smith continued. I think they call it the dog pound, so I feel right at home there because I consider myself to be a dog.
I’m eager to return there for that reason.
“.
The Browns crushed the Tennessee Titans 27-3 last week to return to winning ways. Deshaun Watson completed 27 of 33 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns, possibly his best performance since joining the team, and quarterback Ryan Tannehill suffered three and a half sacks from Myles Garrett.
The Indianapolis Colts, led by Gardner Minshew, were expected to be an easy opponent for the Ravens, who instead suffered a 22-19 overtime loss.
The Ravens suffered their first loss in 2023 as a result of Baltimore’s numerous injuries and crucial missed calls from the officials late in the game.
