Danny Ward makes Castleford Tigers decision after being given a permanent position.
With Ward in temporary charge, the club’s Super League survival was assured.
Danny Ward declined a contract offer from the Castleford Tigers to remain as head coach, so the team is searching for a replacement.
According to Rugby League Live, Ward, who arrived at the Jungle for the final rounds of the season and led the team to safety, has made the decision not to return.
Ward oversaw two victories, one of which against Wakefield Trinity was crucial in preventing the Tigers from suffering the dreaded drop.
The Tigers decided to retain the former London Broncos head coach as their coach going forward as a result.
He has chosen not to extend his stay, leaving the Tigers without a head coach.
The West Yorkshire club, which will be operating on a smaller budget next season, is in a far from ideal situation.
Although it’s not clear if that’s what led to Ward’s choice, they have already completed the majority of their recruiting for the upcoming campaign.
What Ward’s future holds is also a mystery. The 43-year-old hasn’t hurt his reputation after his brief time at the team.
He previously had a successful run at London, where he led the team to the Super League before they just missed being saved on the final day of the 2019 season.
Sam Wood, Josh Simm, Sylvester Namo, Nixon Putt, and other players will all have contracts with the Tigers for the upcoming season, and it’s believed that Luke Hooley has also agreed to terms with the team.
However, there are still some last-minute paperwork requirements for that transfer to be finalized.
