Since it became known that star tight end Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs was dating pop icon Taylor Swift, the NFL has heavily embraced the story, giddying up Taylor Swift and seemingly catering to her rabid fan base, known as Swifties.
The league is now defending the action.

This week, the NFL sparked some debate when they updated the player biographies and social media graphics to include references to Taylor Swift.
Some fans feel that the NFL is overly embracing the friendship.
The NFL, however, responded to that criticism.

“The news about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce has been a pop culture moment we’ve leaned into in real time because it’s a crossroads between sport and entertainment, and we’ve seen an incredible amount of positivity around the sport.

When Swift and Kelce’s relationship becomes more established, it will be interesting to see if the NFL’s focus on her attention-getting behavior lessens.
