The Cleveland Browns seem to have established a defensive juggernaut, so it’s inevitable that the opposition will soon start attempting to steal some of their stars.

On Friday, October 6, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report listed safety Grant Delpit as one of a few “underrated” players on the verge of significant contracts in the spring.
For the years 2024 and beyond, Ballentine identified the Green Bay Packers as one of Cleveland’s most formidable competitors for Delpit’s services.

Grant Delpit has been one of the biggest winners on the Cleveland Browns defense under new coordinator Jim Schwartz.
Delpit has been utilized by Schwartz in a way that plays to his strengths.
He has made 21 tackles (with only two missed tackles) through four games, has already made one interception, and is holding opposing quarterbacks to a passer rating of 28.05 when targeted.

Delpit should be re-signed by the Browns, and both parties should be interested.
Other teams, who are more concerned with safety, might want to take advantage of Delpit’s size and capabilities.
Given that five of their safeties will be eligible for free agency in the following offseason, the Green Bay Packers may be in the market for safeties.

If the Browns Want to Keep Grant Delpit, They’ll Have to Pay.

Delpit may not yet be a “household name,” but ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on Tuesday that even with a strong free agent class at safety in 2024, Delpit should still land a quality contract.

Delpit’s range has elevated his profile over the first month thanks to Schwartz’s defense, which has brought out the best in him.
Delpit had some trouble in 2022 with misunderstandings on the back end, but he’s doing great this year.

Delpit has helped himself in the pecking order recently despite the fact that this safety group is stacked, though some evaluators prefer a more reliable tackler.

The starting salary for a safety in the top ten teams in the league is $13 million per year.
Delpit might not reach that number given the strength of the free agent class.

But if the Browns want to keep him, a deal will probably cost at least $10 million a year.
Out of the 85 players who have taken enough snaps to qualify at safety in the NFL, Delpit is currently ranked fourth.
