Vikings Working to Land Exciting Young QB, Analyst reveals

With just one victory under their belt after five weeks, the Minnesota Vikings have the second-worst record in the NFL.

For the Vikings as well, things aren’t getting any simpler.
On Wednesday, October 11, Justin Jefferson was placed on the injured list, keeping him out of at least the next four contests.

The Vikings may be well-positioned to trade up for highly-touted college prospect Caleb Williams if they are unable to salvage their season without Jefferson in the next four games.

In the past five years, Williams has been one of the most highly anticipated quarterbacks to emerge from college.
The father of the 21-year-old USC star, Carl Williams, said his son, a junior, can go back to school if he chooses not to carry the franchise’s “curse” with the No. first overall pick.

With Jefferson, Addison, and T, Minnesota has a receiving core that is nearly in the top five.
J. Hockenson and tackles Brian O’Neill and Christian Darrisaw, both of whom are Pro Bowl caliber.

A quarterback-friendly coach like Kevin O’Connell, who has gotten winning quarterback play from Kirk Cousins, and an elite organization that received the highest marks in the NFL Players Association poll are also important pluses for any prospect.

Finally, as Minnesota continues to develop its young talent for a potential run in the four to five years of affordability at quarterback, the cap savings of having a quarterback on a rookie-scale deal can help cover up the rest of the roster’s deficiencies with free-agent signings.
