Marko corrects journalist on Hamilton F1 mistake narrative

On the Hamilton F1 mistake narrative, Marko corrects the journalist.

Following Hamilton’s retirement from the Qatar Grand Prix as a Mercedes driver, Red Bull F1 advisor Helmut Marko has taken a playful jab at Hamilton.

The Austrian responded to a journalist who claimed that Mercedes Hamilton had only recently begun making mistakes, implying to the reporter that the seven-time world champion was only just beginning to acknowledge his mistakes.

A high-stakes brawl between Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, a teammate from Mercedes, made headlines during the Qatar Grand Prix.

Hamilton was forced to retire early at the Losail circuit after colliding with Russell in the first turn as both British drivers attempted to pass Max Verstappen.

Russell sustained damage and had to pit at the end of the lap, while the Silver Arrows driver sent himself spinning into the gravel.

Marko was asked by oe24 how Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff would have felt at home since he wasn’t there while recovering from knee surgery.

The journalist said, “Toto Wolff has probably been irritated enough about the crash of the Mercedes drivers operating from home.”.

“At this point, Hamilton seems to be making errors as well.
“.

Marko intervened, “May I correct that?”.
He has recently begun to acknowledge his errors.
“.

On the first lap of the Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton beached his Mercedes W14.

Pressure mounts on Perez.

The topic then turned to how, despite Hamilton’s poor performance, the British driver had been able to close the gap on Red Bull’s Sergio Perez because of the Sprint Race.

The 30-point difference between Perez and Hamilton worries Marko, he acknowledged.

The 80-year-old said, “That fear is quite concrete.
“Hamilton would have recovered 10, 15 points without the crash.
“.

Marko’s concerns aren’t any lessened by the prospect of another Sprint Race at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

The Red Bull boss acknowledges that Checo will receive a lot of support during the US race, but he predicts that the pressure from the home crowd “won’t make it easier for him.
“.

Marko said, “That doesn’t make it easier for him.
He currently doesn’t need a sprint race, which is also available in the USA.

It makes it even harder for him because it takes him a while to catch up. Austin should go fairly well, and then it’s on to Mexico.
