Pastrnak’s Penalty Shot Gem’s Background.
As the Boston Bruins enter the second week of the 2023–24 regular season, they are already 2-0-0.
Their star winger David Pastrnak is off to a scorching start with three goals, one of which was the game-winner.
Without taking anything away from the gorgeous goal David Pastrnak scored off a Milan Lucic assist in the 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks last Wednesday, how can one not still be talking about his penalty shot goal he sniped past stalwart Vezina Trophy contender and Nashville Predators goalie Juuse Saros in the 3-2 victory on Saturday night?
So where did Pastrnak get the idea for his second career penalty shot goal?
After Saturday night’s game, Pastrnak remarked, “I don’t know if you know the sport floorball.
In Europe, it’s a popular sport.
My friend and I had agreed to go to practice together. I went, and I was awful.
Each one of them fires that way.
There, I gave it a shot, and I failed miserably.
However, I gave it a try on the ice and found that I was much better at it than I had been during floorball practice.
“.
Since returning from the Czech Republic for training camp and the preseason, Pastrnak told the media that he has been working on it at practice and in games, but he hasn’t had much success.
This summer, I experimented with a few different shots, the amiable Pastrnak said.
I was putting the finishing touches on that amusing shot, and it was a little unique.
I gave it a few tries.
Actually, I tried it during the preseason. I struck the logo squarely in the middle of the goalie.
I didn’t have much faith going into it, but it worked out.
“.
Though it impressed his head coach Jim Montgomery and goalie Jeremy Swayman, it worked for him and the Boston Bruins when it mattered the most.
Covered it up.
Brought it back behind him, looked like Luis Tiant on the mound, right?” said Montgomery, a lifelong Boston Red Sox supporter.
Awaiting Pasternak’s upcoming magic trick, Swayman was left waiting after the goal.
“I mean, it’s hard to imagine that he gets the top quarter from behind his back, and that’s something.
He works out every day, has a lot of those moves, and there’s a reason why he’s one of the best forwards in this league, Swayman told the media on Saturday.
I’m eager to see what he brings to the table, so. And when he touched the puck, we all knew it was going in.
