James Reimer Unveils Epic Mask for Detroit Red Wings Debut

For the Detroit Red Wings’ debut, James Reimer unveils an epic mask.

James Reimer, the goalie for the Detroit Red Wings, unveiled an epic mask in honor of the Transformers movie series!

With the additions of James Reimer and Alex Lyon, the Detroit Red Wings have increased the depth of their goaltending to replace the departures of Alex Nedeljkovic and Magnus Hellberg.
Reimer, known for his intricate mask artwork throughout his NHL career, has unveiled the design he’ll be sporting for the upcoming season with the Red Wings.

He has 204 career victories under his belt with a .911 combined save percentage and 28 shutouts.
It’s important to keep in mind that while his statistics from the previous season may not seem impressive, they were part of a San Jose team that struggled and finished outside of the playoff picture.

His first Detroit Red Wings mask has been unveiled.

James Reimer, who has been affectionately referred to as “Optimus Reim” throughout his career in homage to the iconic “Transformers” character, has stayed true to this theme with his first Red Wings mask artwork, which was made by the Swedish artist Dave Gunnarsson.

Gunnarsson has produced the mask artwork for a number of former Red Wings goalies over the years, including Petr Mrazek, Jimmy Howard, Jonathan Bernier, Calvin Pickard, and Jonas Gustavsson.

Too long; didn’t read.

James Reimer, a seasoned goaltender, has played in almost 500 National Hockey League contests in his time.

This past summer, GM Steve Yzerman gave him a contract.

A renowned Swedish artist known for his work on previous Red Wings goaltender masks has created Reimer’s first Detroit Red Wings mask.

Optimus Reim is a Red Wing, to sum it up.

Reimer’s inclusion in the Red Wings’ starting lineup should stabilize the goaltending situation and provide backup for Ville Husso, who played a career-high 56 games last season.

It’s safe to assume that Reimer’s first game with the Red Wings won’t be too far off, even though head coach Derek Lalonde hasn’t yet specified the exact date.
