Steelers named running back Trade Candidate.
The Pittsburgh Steelers might receive a sizable sum of money in exchange for their running back.
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense has relied on not one, but two talented running backs this season.
However, the rise of Jaylen Warren has prompted talk of dealing Najee Harris, and one analyst thinks it would be the best course of action for the team.
.
For each NFL team, Cory Woodroof of USA Today Sports came up with the ideal trade scenario; for the Steelers, that meant trading away their starting running back and switching to their younger alternative.
.
Woodroof writes, “This might seem a little surprising, but the Steelers might want to move running back Jaylen Warren into that starting spot and consider sending Harris to a team that could better utilize his talents.”.
“Harris hasn’t quite been the 1,000-yard rusher we’ve grown accustomed to this season, and it’d be very easy to see a Super Bowl-caliber team calling up the Steelers and seeing if Harris is available.
“.
According to Woodroof, the Steelers might get as much as a second-round pick this year in exchange for Harris.
.
Harris has rushed for 247 yards through five games, but he hasn’t scored a touchdown.
Warren, in contrast to Harris, has only gained 124 yards while averaging only 3 points six yards per carry.
However, the second-year back has attracted a lot of attention for an expanded role thanks to his 166 yards receiving and 36 yards after contact.
.
Chances are the Steelers are happy with their running back situation and will rely on both Harris and Warren to lead the offense in the second half of the season.
However, if someone makes a high-ball offer like a second-round pick, things might get interesting for Omar Khan and change.
