The Indianapolis Colts should seriously consider trading wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., according to Cory Woodroof of USA Today’s For the Win.

Running back Jonathan Taylor has now signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts that extends through 2023.
However, there is still uncertainty surrounding wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.’s contract situation.

Indianapolis’ prospects of making the AFC playoffs this season are also in doubt.
Surprisingly, the Colts are among the 12 teams in the conference with a record of 3-3 or better.

Without starting quarterback Anthony Richardson, who the Colts officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 season, that’s a crowded and intimidating field to contend with.

In light of this, Cory Woodroof of USA Today’s For the Win argued that the Colts ought to give Pittman’s trade market a serious evaluation.

The Colts need to carefully consider selling at the trade deadline in order to obtain draft capital in order to add significant talent to their offense, as quarterback Anthony Richardson is currently on injured reserve, according to Woodroof.

Pittman is a dependable wide receiver, but in the spring, he will become a free agent.
Indianapolis should think about trading him for a third-round draft pick to a contender that needs wideout support.

In the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Pittman was selected by the Colts.
He’s grown into a wide receiver who will try to reach 100 receptions and/or 1,000 yards per year.

It doesn’t seem wise to give that up for a draft pick later in the second round, especially at only 26 years old.

Still, as they say, beggars cannot be choosers.

Pittman isn’t worth keeping around to try to make a run behind center with Gardner Minshew if the Colts don’t intend to extend him.
I.e.

Although Pittman is still valuable, the Colts have other young receivers they are developing in addition to Alec Pierce and Josh Downs.
The draft pick they get back in exchange for Pittman might allow them to have another.

It’s not at all simple to decide whether to trade Pittman.
However, it isn’t really affordable for the Colts to let the 26-year-old walk in free agency.
