Red Bull insider’s telling reply to idea of signing Fernando Alonso

After some subpar performances, Sergio Perez’s status at Red Bull has come up for discussion, and Christian Horner met with the agent of Fernando Alonso.

Red Bull met with the agent of the seasoned Spaniard, Fernando Alonso, but will not entertain the idea of replacing Sergio Perez with the veteran.

After a string of subpar performances, speculation regarding Perez’s future at Red Bull has been running rampant. The 33-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024 campaign, but he hasn’t been able to match his dominant teammate, Max Verstappen.

Red Bull’s in-house options are provided by AlphaTauri’s Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, and Liam Lawson, as well as Perez’s replacements Lando Norris of McLaren and Alex Albon of Williams.
In the meantime, rumors that the 42-year-old Aston Martin driver might be involved surfaced following a meeting in Qatar between Christian Horner, the principal of Red Bull team, and Alonso’s agent, Flavio Briatore.

However, the Daily Mail claims that Red Bull insiders have flatly rejected the notion, saying, “Not a chance.”.
With his home Grand Prix in Mexico approaching, Perez is under pressure ahead of this weekend’s US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, but he is not about to be fired.

If Red Bull decides to switch Perez, Ricciardo—who is scheduled to make his return for sister team AlphaTauri this weekend—is thought to be the most likely choice.
But Horner says, in an exclusive interview with Mirror Sport, that the team’s main goal is to assist Perez in finishing in second place this season because Verstappen won another championship.
Even with his difficulties, he leads Lewis Hamilton in third place by 30 points.

“We’ve never done it before, and it will be a great way to cap off what we think has been our most successful car to date,” Horner remarked.
“We’re doing everything we can to encourage Checo and assist him in achieving the form we know he can and showed earlier this year.

“We have faith that he can regain the form he displayed in some incredible races, such as those in Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan.
He even drove a fantastic race and finished second in Monza not too long ago.

He said, “It’s not something that we have discussed or even considered.”.
