Following a petition for winding up the rugby club, the chairman promises to remain firm.

York City Knights, a rugby league team, claims it is “business as usual” despite receiving a winding-up petition from HMRC.

Clint Goodchild, the club’s chairman, stated that the HMRC action relates to a tax charge that occurred long before he took over the club, which is based at York’s LNER Community Stadium.

He stated: “In June HMRC brought to our attention an aged CTSA, CT tax charge of £2,109.95 plus an accumulated interest charge of £294.66 which we would like further details around.

“This charge is dated 30 November 2018; I became the club’s owner in January 2022, but this charge was made years earlier.

“We have asked for more details and are awaiting a response.
Despite the fact that it is a relatively small sum, before making a payment, I would like some clarification.

“If and when these explanations are provided, and the taxation charge is shown to be justified, it will be paid right away, concluding the matter.
In the meantime, I’ll maintain my position.

At York RLFC, things are continuing as usual as we head toward the season’s final stretch and continue to develop both on and off the field.
