Potential short-term trade candidates for the Braves

The Braves don’t need an upgrade anytime soon.
Orlando Arcia is under team control for three more years at a team price of $2 million per year and is coming off a season in which he was the starting shortstop in the All-Star Game.
But while the first half was great, the second half looked like a Milwaukee player.

In 20 seasons, Arcia hit .341 and his OPS was close to .900.
He pitched as one of the best shortstops in the National League, but hit .219 with a .652 OPS over his last 87 games.
Now, you can’t completely ignore what he did in the first few months of the season, but when you look at the first half of the season, you can’t ignore his offense as a whole. his career.
Arcia has been a below average hitter since entering the league.

In two seasons with the Braves, his production was above average, especially for a good defensive shortstop, but there was still room for improvement.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many encouraging options in the next free agent class, and teams typically don’t want to trade their starting tight ends. But there is one name to watch in the coming months and he plays for Arcia’s former team.
Willie Adames of the Brewers is entering his final year of arbitration and is expected to make a splash soon, especially after making some signings this past offseason.

He’s not in the same category as Trea Turner, Carlos Correa or Xander Bogaerts, but he’s similar to Dansby Swanson, who was a free agent last season.
Adames doesn’t have a big average, but he has plenty of pop skills and has hit 24 home runs in each of the last three seasons.

He is way ahead of Arsia in attack and even better in defense.
Adames would be a versatile upgrade, and the Brewers might be interested in working Adames if they don’t think they can re-sign him.

I don’t know what the Braves think about Orlando Arcia.
He was a better player for the Braves than the Brewers, but he fell off a cliff late last season and his NLDS problems are unacceptable.

But if the Braves are willing to give up a top prospect for Adames’ services, they should at least be willing to pay him.
Given how they’ve handled the Dansby Swanson situation, I’m not sure they want to do that, especially since Arcia is under contract through 2026.
