Astros reliever Abreu appealed the suspension for throwing to Garcia in Game 6 of the ALCS.

HOUSTON (AP) – Astros reliever Brian Abreu has been suspended two games by Major League Baseball for intentionally throwing a pitch to Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers in Game 5 of the AL Championship Series.

The call made Abreu eligible for Sunday night’s Game 6 against Houston.
He struck out Garcia in the eighth, but gave up an RBI double to Mitch Garber to extend Texas’ lead to 4-2.

Abreu’s hearing was scheduled Monday by John McHale Jr., special assistant to Director Rob Manfred.
It will be held in front.
Houston needed a win to advance to its third consecutive World Series.

MLB said Saturday that all six umpires ruled that Abreu intentionally threw his eighth Friday when he drilled a 98 mph fastball at Garcia.
Two innings ago, Garcia swung the bat, slowly loaded the bases and gave Texas a 4-2 victory with a three-run home run at Globe Life Field.

MLB said it “considered the dangerous nature of the stadium and the potential impact on player safety” when deciding to suspend Abreu.

The right-hander’s throw enraged Garcia and sparked a scramble to clear the bench, with play halted for 12 minutes before resuming. Abreu, Garcia and Astros manager Dusty Baker were all ejected.
