Braves News: Former Atlanta catcher is favorite for manager job

The Atlanta Braves organization seems to produce successful coaches and managers at the major league level.
As the story heats up, another former Bravo could become the captain of a Major League Baseball club.
Four teams are looking for new head coaches this offseason.
With the Guardians, Mets, Giants and Angels filling the void, the Atlanta Braves hope to keep Ron Washington. One of the four teams had a former Braves player.

Steven Vogt, who spent the 2021 season with the Atlanta Braves and proved it in the World Series, has emerged as a serious candidate for the Cleveland Guard head coaching job, according to Jeff Passan.
Vogt spent most of his career with the Oakland Athletics (six seasons), playing catcher, first base and outfield.
He was a two-time All-Star with the A’s in 2015 and 2016.

Playing multiple positions and being a catcher goes a long way to becoming a successful manager.

As the hitting catcher, Vogt spent a lot of time understanding situations and how to react.
I had to know the strengths and weaknesses of the batter, the strengths of the pitcher and get inside the opponent’s head.
That’s what managers should do.
Steven Vogt, who just retired after 10 years in the major leagues, looks like a strong candidate for the manager job. He is only 38 years old and already has experience as a player in a new era of baseball.
Compared to most coaches, the relationships he built with his players at a young age could bring great success.

Vogt’s appointment to this leadership position sounds similar to when David Ross interviewed for the position and ended up being traded to the Chicago Cubs.
The Rangers will be happy with this matchup if they choose Vogt as their next skipper.

If Vogt is not selected to take over the Rangers, don’t be surprised if he is considered for other coaching vacancies around the league.
