Browns Send Message on Trade for New QB With Deshaun Watson Ruled Out

Browns QB Deshaun Watson has been ruled out for the Seahawks game.

The Cleveland Browns will be without Deshaun Watson for their Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 29.
The Browns have already ruled out Watson, who is suffering from a torn right rotator cuff.
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski announced the news on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
“Deshaun is focused on his rehab,” Stefanski said.
“It looks like there’s some residual swelling from what happened to his shoulder during the game that’s affecting his pitching. I think it would be a good idea to rest a bit and focus on rehab this week.
Like I said, I always make the best decisions for our football team, Deshaun.
“I think it was the best decision of the week,” he said.

With Watson gone, the Browns have P.J. back.
I will return to Walker. Walker has completed 50 percent of his passes with the Browns this season, passing for 370 yards and three interceptions.
Stefanski didn’t buy into the idea of trading or signing a veteran QB to help Watson recover.
Deadline for transactions – 31 October.
“I feel comfortable with the people we have,” Stefanski said.

Stefanski decided to keep Watson against the Colts.

This will be the third game Watson has missed due to injury this season. He started in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts, but was ejected in the first quarter for a hard hit.
Watson was diagnosed with a concussion but made a full recovery. Stefanski said he decided not to sit Watson out of fear that he might further injure his shoulder.

“My job is to make difficult decisions,” Stefanski said after the game.
“I felt like protecting him. I didn’t want him to get hit.
He was hit hard and I know he approved [the protocol] and all that, but I wanted to protect him.”

Watson went 1-for-5 for 5 yards and had an interception against the Colts.
He had a QB rating of 0.0.

Browns add PJ Walker to active roster

The Browns signed Watson to a $230 million contract through 2022 after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade.
It’s unfortunate for the Browns that Watson missed so much time, but the hope is that Watson can get closer to full health and maybe be in the postseason when the Browns need him the most.

“He wants to play so bad,” Stefanski said.
He’s trying like crazy.
Not for lack of trying.
He’ll do his best to be there, but I think it makes sense for him to focus on rehab this week because of the swelling from the hit.
Then it will be there.
When it will be done.

The Browns added Walker to the active roster on Wednesday, ending his time on the practice squad.
Cleveland used Walker, the limit of a practice squad player, three times.
The Browns also added Nate McCurry and Jordan Wilkins to the practice squad.
Rookie running back Jerome Ford will miss time with an ankle injury, while Kareem Hunt is also dealing with a groin issue.
Hunt did not practice Wednesday.
