As Red Bull pursues the F1 star, Jenson Button is aware of what Lando Norris will do “if he’s clever.”.
The McLaren star Norris has long been linked with a move to Red Bull, but rumors have gotten more intense recently after Sergio Perez said he might start looking elsewhere.
In order to compete against Max Verstappen, Jenson Button believes that fellow Brit Lando Norris might join Red Bull.
Once again, there is a great deal of speculation surrounding the McLaren driver’s future.
And this is despite the fact that he is bound to the Woking team through the end of the 2025 campaign by a contract.
But if a team has enough cash to spare, contracts can be bought out.
If Red Bull decides that Norris is the top candidate to succeed Sergio Perez, the company has the resources to carry out that decision.
The Mexican has one more season left on his contract, but he might not be offered a renewal. And he has already acknowledged that if he feels he can no longer contribute to the team, he will think about his other options.
Norris needs to make a significant decision, according to former McLaren racer Button. The Red Bull car might be quicker than the one he currently drives, but as Perez’s struggles this year have shown, it is challenging to drive for anyone who is not named Verstappen.
He explained to Sky Sports, “The problem is, to be world champion, you have to beat the best.”.
When I left Brawn, I thought, “I have to go to McLaren because I need to race against Lewis Hamilton, who is thought to be the best.
That is what I believe he will ultimately decide to do.
He’ll pick a car that fits his style if he’s smart, I’m sure of it.
Apart from Max, we’ve seen that Red Bull doesn’t work well for many drivers.
He’s not in a car that can win now, and I doubt he will be either next year.
So, for him, making a choice is not an easy one.
“So, yeah, for 2025, he’s got to be looking elsewhere.
The other option is for him to put his faith in McLaren because they have a history of success with victories in races and championships.
Stay where you are as long as he is confident and can see the future and believes that they are a strong team. If not, Max Verstappen should go fight for his own team.
But it’s a difficult one.
“.
In the past, Norris has stated his desire to advance with McLaren and triumph with the organization that gave him his Formula 1 debut five years ago.
He knows what he must do, though, if the team is unable to match his ambition in the upcoming years.
The 23-year-old admitted to RaceFans that he owed McLaren a great deal but not his life.
“There have been a few chances here and there, but Ferrari is largely booked.
Almost all of the Mercedes have been reserved.
Things are constantly happening at Red Bull.
I’m still here because McLaren has consistently turned out to be the best choice.
