5 official Vikings who won’t be back in 2024

Here are five members of the Minnesota Vikings who will no longer be with the team after this season:

The Vikings play the 2023 season.
They started their stretch 0-3 and lost key parts of their team, but somehow found themselves in the thick of the NFC playoff picture.
This is a team that may seem strange, but is able to overcome impossible odds because everyone does their part and believes in each other.
Minnesota has coaches who know how to put their best players in position to play.
They are an exciting team to watch and will continue to improve as the season progresses.
That being said, Vikings fans should enjoy this team as much as they can.
Because this group cannot and will not return to the way it was in 2024.

The Vikings have to make tough decisions about who they want to keep, and they can’t invest in all of these players, no matter how much they want to.
Some of these players could be getting big contracts by other teams and should do what’s best for them and leave the beloved confines of Minnesota.
Here are five Vikings who won’t be on the team in 2024: WR K.J. Osborne

KJ Osborne is having a great season with the Vikings.
He went down a few times early in the year, but has held on since Justin Jefferson went down with an injury.
He had 32 receptions for 377 yards and two scores.
He’s not afraid to take a big hit up the middle and paid the price recently by taking a big hit that cost him a game with a concussion.
Osbourne is back and ready to hit the ground running, and there’s no reason to think he won’t continue his solid production.
The Vikings want Osborne back, but he’s also someone they want to get paid for in his final season.
He also understands that Minnesota will only have a third wide receiver alongside Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson. If he wants to be a starter, it won’t happen here and he will have to go elsewhere.
The Vikings also have Justin Jefferson and T.J. I spent a lot of money buying it. Hockenson is in town.
They simply cannot invest more money in their department and allow Osborne to find a new home on the free agent market to improve other positions on the team.
OLB DJ Wonnum

Like Osborne, Wonnum is a player who could be enticed by a big contract offer from another team.
Wonnum excelled during his time with the Vikings, becoming a solid and underrated pass rusher.
Wonnum recorded 20 career sacks and 147 tackles during his time with the Vikings.
He has become a more complete defender in recent seasons and is currently on pace to have the most productive season of his career in both sacks and tackles.
The Vikings will make a decision this offseason.
Will Daniel Hunter, who discovered it, get a huge contract?
Or D.J. Behind?
Who is Wonnum, who may not be a game-changer like Hunter, but is much more approachable? The latest rumors suggest the Vikings could select Hunter and Wonnum will get a chance to test the free agent market.
The best deal for Wonnum comes from the Vikings, but pass rusher is a premium position in the NFL, so a team would have to pay big to get a good deal. Wonnum will enter this category once the season is over.
It would be nice to have him back, but he could also get a big contract from someone else.

DC Brian Flores

This is the beginning that can hurt the most.
Perhaps no rookie has had a bigger positive impact on the 2023 Vikings than defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
He took over a division that was bottom of the league a season ago and promoted them to the top division in 2023.

Flores has superstars like Daniel Hunter and Harrison Smith.
Also has Akayleb Evans, Jr. and Ivan Pace.
And Mehi Blackmon.
Regardless of experience level, he continues to get the most out of his players by putting them in the best position to succeed.
Flores’ aggressive style is what makes this unit so successful. They constantly put pressure on opposing players, which causes confusion and forces them to throw the ball faster than they would like.
The Vikings defense was a force to be reckoned with, thanks in large part to the outstanding play of Brian Flores.

Teams are sure to take note of what Flores has done and start asking for interviews after the season is over.
He was previously the head coach of the Dolphins and will likely get another opportunity at some point.
He expressed some displeasure when he filed a discrimination lawsuit against the NFL, allowing him to spend the next season in Minnesota. Vikings fans hope so.
Because losing Flores would be a huge blow to the future of this defense.

K Greg Joseph

Why did the Vikings bring back Greg Joseph? He had a down season in 2022, missing an extra point that kept an opponent in the game and a game-sealing field goal. He hit some game-winning shots, and that’s probably why he’s hitting the Vikings again this year.
But it’s starting to look like last year’s blowout, and that’s not a good thing.
Joseph recently missed the extra point that changed the Vikings’ lead from a two-point game to a one-point game.
This is huge and gives hope to opponents when the game seems to be going away. His missed extra points are usually momentum killers and often come after the Vikings have made a big play, turning the flow back to players in the wrong jersey.

Joseph also missed the ball at the end of the game. He did it in Green Bay and survived long after the Packers were buried.
He did it again against the Saints.
Joseph had a chance to put the game away and should have, even if it was a long pitch. Instead, he missed it and the Vikings got a big win.
There is no reason to leave Joseph out this season.
Every shot from distance is just as effective, and you’re more likely to hit a shot that doesn’t kill momentum or put the game away. Marcus Davenport

Marcus Davenport played well for the Vikings when he was on the field.
He is a threat as a passer and is also a beast against the run.
His presence on the pitch, as well as his bench players, had a positive effect as he suddenly improved.
It’s not often you see the impact a player has on a defense, but that’s what happened with Davenport.
The problem is that Davenport is only playing three games this season.
Although he was active in the Eagles game, he never played there and only scored touchdowns against the Panthers, Chiefs and Bears.
He’s not very durable and it wouldn’t matter if he was disappointed this season.
But Davenport has proven who he is throughout his career.

He has never completed a full season and is injury prone.
I think it will take a long time to recover from the illness. The Vikings knew this when they signed Davenport, so it was only a one-year deal.
