Steelers HC Mike Tomlin on decision to fire Matt Canada: ‘Mine and mine alone’
Minutes after news broke that the Pittsburgh Steelers had fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada, rumors and debate began about how the team got to this point.
Many wondered if ownership would have to step in and make a decision, as manager Mike Tomlin was stubborn and refused to budge. But Tomlin said the decision to release Canada from the obligation is his, not anyone else’s.
If this is true and not sure why it took so long? What did Tomlin see better than what he saw against the Cleveland Browns in the weeks leading up to this week to make the difference? It would have been a perfect situation to leave Canada and head into the Steelers’ bye week and give the team more time to adjust, but Tomlin was quick to dismiss the claims, which only added to the confusion.
