Report: Browns ‘thrilled’ with job Kevin Stefanski has done in 2023
The Cleveland Browns have a record of 7 wins and 4 losses this season. Under head coach Kevin Stefanski, the franchise posted a 33-27 record over the past three and a half seasons. When they face the Los Angeles Rams tomorrow, The Athletic’s Diana Russini reported that Berea management is “thrilled” to sign Stefanski with the team through 2023. He writes:
“The Cleveland Browns are very pleased with the leadership of coach Kevin Stefanski this season. There have been some questions over the years and even suggestions that Cleveland should walk away from the 2020 NFL Coach of the Year title, but based on conversations with multiple sources around the league, Stefanski is here to stay. This mark of quality also applies to managing director Andrew Berry. “Last season there was a lot of pressure and they were able to navigate the rough waters.”
Given the quarterback situation facing the Browns and Stefanski in 2023, it’s hard to blame Cleveland. He now starts the fourth starting quarterback and despite Deshaun Watson playing in just five games this season, he has the Browns at 7-4 on the season. No team has more wins in 2023 than the Browns. If Joe Flacco and the Browns win in Los Angeles, they would become the first team since the Houston Texans in 2015 to win a game with four different quarterbacks in a season. This increased the probability of advancing to the playoffs to 87%.
