Latest report: Maple Leafs Have Looked into Trading for Flyers Defenseman
“We’ve explored what the market is,” Leafs GM Brad Treliving said on Wednesday subsequent to uncovering that Klingberg would be out until the end of the year.
The Maple Leafs keep on scouring the exchange market for a defenseman.
On Wednesday, Toronto GM Brad Treliving uncovered that John Klingberg would be closed down until the end of the time after he has hip medical procedure in the not so distant future. The 31-year-old has been managing a hip issue since Toronto played against the Florida Jaguars in October.
Treliving stated, “Ultimately this has to be done,” during his Wednesday afternoon press conference.
With the Maple Leafs losing Klingberg, in addition to having Timothy Liljegren (lower leg) and Imprint Giordano (broken finger) out, Toronto has been supposedly looking for a defenseman.
It was said that the Maple Leafs were in on both Nikita Zadorov and Chris Tanev until the Vancouver Canucks dipped in and gained the Russian-conceived protector. Now, it seems like Rasmus Ristolainen, a defenseman for the Philadelphia Flyers, has been the subject of interest from Toronto.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman wrote in his 32 Thoughts article on Wednesday night, “I do think Toronto has taken a look at Philadelphia’s Rasmus Ristolainen, who has three seasons remaining on a five-year, $25.5-million contract.”
“Be that as it may, I don’t completely accept that the Flyers are anxious to part with him, and there’s no scramble for them to do anything while their gathering is playing great. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen in the future; however, “Why throw a stink bomb into your dressing room when the team is competing hard, getting good results, and generally doing what is asked of them?”
This season, Ristolainen has appeared in five games for the Flyers. After suffering from an undisclosed injury at the start of the year, he began his season on November 25. Through five games, the 29-year-old defenseman has a 59.56 xGF% at five-on-five, as indicated by NaturalStatTrick.com.
Treliving made the rounds of the media on the radio later in the day after speaking with reporters on Wednesday afternoon. He showed up on TSN’s OverDrive and examined William Nylander’s agreement, in addition to what’s next for the guard.
“Our guard, and I’m not deterring anyone in that frame of mind here, it was region we needed to attempt to help ourselves, even before John’s physical issue,” Treliving told OverDrive on Wednesday night.
“Obviously, this is an area that we are concentrating on. William Lagesson and Simon Benoit, two of the newcomers, deserve a lot of credit. I believe they have played it safe. We anticipated that they would play fewer or fewer roles, but good on them. They have appeared and performed exceptionally well. “What’s available, what’s the cost of it that can make an impact on our team, and that’s the manager’s job now, is to continue to work that process to see if we can help ourselves,” but we have to try to help ourselves there.
