Lewy body dementia is a disease associated with abnormal deposits that impact chemicals in the brain, leading to problems with thinking, movement, behavior, and mood, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Florida State University paid tribute to the baseball legend in an X, formerly Twitter, post, “Today we mourn with the Martin family the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and baseball coach. Rest in Peace, 11.”

Martin, who last coached the Seminoles in 2019 before stepping away, led FSU to 40 consecutive NCAA appearances.

Under Martin’s reign, the Seminoles won 19 conference titles and played in two College World Series with Martin in 1986 and 1999.
