Tiger Woods teases new deal following end to 27-year Nike partnership

Tiger Woods’ iconic relationship with Nike Golf came to an end at the beginning of his 2024, and he appears set to announce his replacement ahead of his return next week

Tiger Woods has teased fans that a big announcement is brewing, with the 15-time major winner set to make his PGA Tour comeback at the Genesis Invitational next week.

The announcement is expected to be linked to his next sponsorship deal after ending a 27-year relationship with Nike in January. “My perspective remains the same,” Woods posted on social media Tuesday. 2.12.24″, – a strong blow to the head.

Woods pointed out that Feb. 12 is the day before golf’s legendary Genesis Invitational, which will be held at Riviera next Wednesday. Many brands have been linked to Woods since he parted ways with Nike last month, but TaylorMade seems to have won the partnership race. In January, it was revealed that TaylorMade Lifestyle Ventures LLC had filed to trademark “Sunday Red,” the iconic color that Woods wore while competing in the final round of the tournament. The brand is expected to launch a new clothing line as a tribute to Woods’ famous four-round suit. The 48-year-old has partnered with the golf brand and has been using TaylorMade equipment since 2017. Woods has used Nike clubs throughout his career, but teamed up with former no. 1 world TaylorMade after the brand stopped making equipment in 2016. He is now expected to wear the brand on clothes outside the club. Woods’ first event without the Nike Swoosh is next week at Genesis. The five-time Masters champion has spent his entire professional career with the sports brand. In 1996, he signed his first contract for 31.6 million pounds ($40 million), at the time the largest sponsorship in the history of the sport. Woods is believed to have earned 397 million pounds ($500 million) during his 27-year tenure at Nike. His last contract was signed in 2013 after the 15-time major winner agreed to a 10-year contract worth around £160 million ($200 million). The 10-year deal ended shortly after the New Year, with Woods confirming the partnership in early January. In an emotional statement, the American star wrote: “27 years ago I was lucky enough to work with one of the most iconic brands in the world. “The days that followed were filled with truly amazing moments and memories. If I could name them, they would last forever. [Former Nike CEO] Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought together Nike, Nike Golf, and I put own partnership together and I’d like to personally thank him, the Nike staff, and the incredible athletes I’ve worked with. “People are asking if there will be another chapter. Yes, there will definitely be another chapter. See you in LA! Tiger.” The next chapter is set for next week when Woods hosts and plays on the Los Angeles Riviera.
