Deion Sanders is the only coach who, albeit to a lesser extent, can understand what Sean Payton went through this weekend. While Payton’s Broncos gave up 70 points to the Dolphins, the Colorado Buffaloes did not, but they nonetheless suffered a boat race in their 42-6 loss to Oregon.

Sanders advocated for the Broncos’ head coach earlier this week, having already been to a game. When a reporter inquired about rookie five-star cornerback Cormani McClain and what might be to blame for his lack of playing time, Sanders provided an open response.
Colorado’s head coach jokingly told the reporter that he would have put McClain out there at one point after he was able to enter during the rout loss.

In light of the Broncos’ 50-point defeat, the reporter joked that his presence there would have been comparable to that.

It didn’t sit well with Sanders.

Payton, who has won a Super Bowl, may be the only person in Colorado who has faith in him right now, but it will take time for him to recruit his own players. Whether Russell Wilson is a part of those future plans is still up in the air, but as Payton tries to make sense of it in Denver, he has Deion Sanders as a staunch ally.
