Wigan Warriors duo up for prestigious awards at annual dinner

At the annual dinner, a Wigan Warriors duo is competing for prestigious awards.

At the Steve Prescott Man of Steel awards ceremony this season, Wigan Warriors are competing for two prestigious honors.

Matty Peet, who led the Warriors to the League Leaders’ Shield, is one of the four finalists for Coach of the Year.

The Man of Steel dinner will present awards to Warriors head coach Matty Peet and hooker Brad O’Neill.

The 12 head coaches competing will vote to determine the Coach of the Year, and Peet is hoping to win for the second time in a row.

Along with Paul Rowley (Salford Red Devils) and Steve McNamara (Catalans Dragons), Adrian Lam, who won the award in 2020 after leading the Wigan Warriors to the Grand Final, is also vying for it this year.

Two Warrington Wolves players, outside back Josh Thewlis and second-row Matty Nicholson, are with O’Neill.

Last year, in somewhat contentious circumstances, Halifax-born Nicholson transferred from Wigan to the Wolves.

On Tuesday, October 10, the winners of both competitions will be announced at Emirates Old Trafford.
