Damian Lillard “trying to RESCIND trade request and return to Blazers,”
Damian Lillard previously stated that he was only interested in being traded to the Heat.
However, he reportedly had the flexibility to change his mind if a Miami deal couldn’t be reached.
Despite being part of a historic trade that sent Damian Lillard to the Bucks on Wednesday, he reportedly made one last effort to save face in Portland.
The Heat were the only team on the All-NBA guard’s wish list when he made a trade request earlier in the summer after spending 11 years with the Blazers.
However, according to Bleacher Report, Lillard informed Blazers General Manager Joe Cronin on September 5 that if a deal with Miami couldn’t be reached, he’d like to rescind his trade request and return to the team.
Lillard was allegedly “shocked” when Cronin told him that “there was no coming back,” and their relationship has reportedly suffered as a result.
Later, the 33-year-old player showed up at the Blazers’ practice facility to work out and worked out for eight days.
In order to stop Aaron Goodwin from getting involved in potential deals, the team cut off communication with Lillard and his agent for two weeks around the same time that Cronin reportedly did not speak to him once.

According to reports, on September 5, Damian Lillard attempted to make amends with Portland.
However, Blazers general manager Joe Cronin declared that the star player had “no turning back.”.
Later, Goodwin and Lillard decided that Milwaukee and Brooklyn were better options than Miami, and the guard was subsequently traded to the Bucks in a three-team deal involving Jrue Holiday and DeAndre Ayton.
Even though the deal hasn’t been officially announced, numerous reports claim that the Bucks are giving the Blazers Jrue Holiday, an unprotected first-round pick in 2029, as well as swap rights in 2028 and 2030.
Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson are reportedly headed to the Suns, while Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, and another player are reportedly being sent to Portland from Phoenix.
The Blazers, who are in the midst of a rebuild after trading for Lillard and selecting Scoot Henderson as their point guard in June, are predicted to trade Holiday to another team.
Lillard will help Giannis Antetokounmpo win a second championship, but losing his “f*g brother” Holiday was also heartbreaking.
“I adore his family.”. I cherish him.
I value this man.
He told Bleacher Report, “I wish him nothing but the best.”.
It will always be the same that this man is my brother for life.
Wherever he ends up, he will prosper.
