Eddie Hearn’s response to the Tyson Fury-Olekandr Usyk announcement.

The first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2001 will be decided by the winner of the fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has responded favorably to the news.

After the Ukrainian agreed to a 30 percent purse split, Fury and Usyk appeared to be on the verge of a fight at Wembley Stadium earlier this year.
However, negotiations abruptly broke down due to the financials of the rematch.

Unknown to the rest of the boxing community, negotiations had been going on behind the scenes.
This week, reports of an agreement surfaced, and both teams soon confirmed it.

Eddie Hearn, who staged the Anthony Joshua-Usyk rematch there, is familiar with Saudi Arabia, where the fight will take place.

Hearn responded to the fight’s announcement on Boxing Social by saying it was good for boxing and made him want to organize more significant fights.

Fantastic, I hope it occurs, and I think it will.
He [Fury] will engage in combat whenever there is a significant sum of money on the table.
I really hope it happens because it would be a fantastic fight for the division.
Though my gut tells me it will happen in January, it could also happen on December 23.
It’s excellent for boxing, in my opinion.

It, in my opinion, exerts some pressure on UK boxing.
Even though it’s out of our control, it makes me want to stage the Benn-Eubank fight in the UK more.

We need to match up AJ against Wilder and Eubank against Benn, I thought as soon as I heard that news.
I believe that when big fights start happening, it increases the likelihood of other fights.
