New England Patriots’ Bill Belichick Vocal On Mac Jones Benching In Blowout Vs. Dallas Cowboys.

Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys ended in a humiliating defeat for the New England Patriots. In actuality, their 38-3 loss was the biggest defeat in Bill Belichick’s entire tenure as an NFL head coach.

Belichick controversially decided to bench starting quarterback Mac Jones after he turned in yet another subpar performance.
Naturally, this choice raised a number of issues regarding the 25-year-old’s potential with the Patriots in the future.

Jones completed 12-of-21 passes for 150 yards and 0 touchdowns while also throwing two more interceptions to finish the game.
In his first four games of the season, the former first-round pick has been intercepted a total of four times.

Late in the third quarter, Bailey Zappe took over for Jones, which some may interpret as New England deciding to deprive Jones of his position as the team’s starting quarterback.

Belichick, on the other hand, isn’t yet prepared to make such a significant change.
The Pats head coach was quick to downplay the decision when questioned about why Jones was benched in the final period of Sunday’s game:.

As quoted by Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald (paywall), “I didn’t think there was any point in leaving him in the game,” Belichick said.

Belichick’s response was not well received by the media.
In an effort to get a more enlightening response, they questioned the coach about his choice. The six-time Super Bowl champion coach did not give in to their demands:.

When asked if Jones’ benching was a result of his subpar performance, Belichick replied, “I just said there was no point in leaving him out there, so I took him out.

The New England Patriots’ starting quarterback is still Mac Jones.

Given how poorly Jones performed in his first four games of the season, the big question at this point is whether or not Zappe will take over as New England’s head coach.

Belichick, 71, provided a straightforward response when asked this specific question directly.

When asked if Jones would start for New England again, Belichick answered, “Yeah, I just said there was no point in leaving him in the game.”.

Next Sunday when the Patriots play the New Orleans Saints, Jones will still be the team’s starting quarterback, according to Belichick.
It is unknown, however, whether this will continue to be the case for New England.
