The 28-year-old will join the Wigan Warriors and return to Super League after spending the last two seasons with the Canterbury Bulldogs, where he made 42 appearances after leaving St Helens in 2020.

In 2014 and 2019, Thompson won the Harry Sunderland Trophy while playing for St Helens, who also won two Super League Grand Finals.
Moreover, in both 2018 and 2019, he was a member of the Super League Dream Team.

He has played for England on seven occasions, including the Rugby League World Cup 2021 last year.
