Baseball Doc ‘The Game That Changed Everything’ On Historic 2004 Matchup Between Yankees & Red Sox Sets FS1 Premiere Date
The FS1 premiere date for the baseball documentary “The Game That Changed Everything” on the legendary 2004 matchup between the Yankees and Red Sox has been set.
The documentary, which will make its FS1 debut on Wednesday, October 18, will follow the network’s live coverage of Game 3 of the ALCS.
It takes viewers on a journey through time to relive some of the series’ most crucial moments as told by the baseball greats who were there at the time, including Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, and David Ortiz from Fox Sports, as well as Mariano Rivera, Johnny Damon, Kevin Millar, Dave Roberts, and Orlando Cabrera.
A lot of focus has been placed on Game 4, the pivotal game in the series, when the Yankees were poised to celebrate and the Red Sox were down 0-3.
A perfect storm was developing against the Yankees as the Red Sox appeared to be out of options at Fenway Park in the ninth inning. While the Yankees used a winning strategy and Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera to win the series, they watched in complete disbelief as Game 4 slowly faded away, along with a 150-year dominance of the Red Sox.
The Red Sox made an incredible comeback to win Game 4, shattering the Yankees’ dream of going straight to the World Series in a dramatic, page-turning finale. The Red Sox eventually defeated the St. Finally ending the “Curse of the Bambino,” the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series for the first time in 86 years.
No MLB team had ever lost a postseason series after leading three games to none, so to this day Yankees players and supporters are still perplexed as to what exactly transpired.
The Game That Changed Everything, the second documentary to debut as part of the multi-year film deal between Fox Sports and Religion of Sports that was first announced earlier this year, was executive produced by Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, and Victor Buhler for Religion of Sports as well as Eric Shanks, Mark Silverman, Charlie Dixon, and Barry Nugent for Fox Sports.
The movie is helmed by Liam Hughes and co-produced by Fox Sports Films, Religion of Sports, and the MLB.
As producers, Rita O’Dea worked alongside David Check, Carl Hansen, Ariana Rotstein, and Michael Vayder.

For more than eight decades, the Yankees have consistently defeated the Red Sox, said Buhler.
However, that all changed on this infamous October night.
The game actually brought about a world-wide revolution.
