The Cleveland Browns seem to have established a defensive juggernaut, so it’s inevitable that the opposition will soon start attempting to steal some of their stars.

Grant Delpit was listed by Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report on Friday, October 6, as one of a few “underrated” players who will land big contracts in the spring.
In Ballentine’s estimation, the Green Bay Packers could be one of Cleveland’s main rivals for Delpit’s services in 2024 and beyond.

Delpit has been used by Schwartz in a way that accentuates his advantages.
Through four games, he has 21 tackles (with only two missed tackles), one interception, and is limiting opposing quarterbacks to a passer rating of 28.5 points when targeted.

Delpit should be re-signed by the Browns, and both parties should be interested.
Other teams, on the other hand, might be clamoring for a piece of Delpit’s size and expertise if they are safety-hungry.
Given that five of their safeties will be eligible for free agency in the following offseason, the Green Bay Packers may be in the market for safeties.

Delpit was selected by the Browns in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, going to them with pick No. 44 total).

The 25-year-old LSU graduate missed his first season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in training camp.
He started just five of his 15 games in 2021.

With 105 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and 4 interceptions in his final season, Delpit really came into his own.
Since Delpit is off to the best start of his four-year NFL career, his trajectory is a plus for his impending contract negotiations.

Grant Delpit Will Be Expensive for the Browns to Keep.

Delpit is not yet a “household name,” according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, but even with a strong free agent class at safety in 2024, he should still land a quality contract.

Delpit has improved his profile over the first month with his range thanks to Schwartz’s defense, who has brought out the best in him. Delpit occasionally had difficulties with misunderstandings on the back end in 2022, but he’s thriving this year.

This safety group is stacked, but Delpit has recently helped himself in the pecking order, even though some evaluators prefer a more reliable tackler.

Starting at a minimum of $13 million per year, the top ten safety salaries in the league.
Delpit might fall short of that total due to the strength of the free agent class.

But if the Browns want to keep him, a deal will probably need to be done for at least $10 million a year.
According to PFF, Delpit is currently the fourth-ranked safety in the NFL out of 85 players who have accrued enough playing time to qualify at the position.
