Travis Kelce appeared to throw punch, had a dirty block against Vikings
In a dirty block against the Vikings, Travis Kelce appeared to throw a punch.
Against the Vikings, Travis Kelce was ejected for a dirty block and an apparent punch.
At the time of his injury, Kelce appeared to punch Vikings safety Josh Metellus.
Given his relationship with Taylor Swift, the queen of music, Travis Kelce may be the prince of football, but there were a few instances during Sunday’s Vikings-Chiefs game when Kelce’s actions were anything but royal.
Following Kelce’s ankle injury at US Bank Stadium from slipping on the grass, Ron Johnson, a Vikings analyst and former NFL player, saw the star tight end appear to punch Vikings safety Josh Metellus in the stomach.
Metellus tried to punch the ball loose with Kelce on the ground, but he didn’t really react, so it wasn’t much of a punch, but Kelce wound up his right arm and swung.
Because Kelce was called for an illegal crackback block on Vikings edge rusher Danielle Hunter, the other play has fewer questions.
If you block a defensive player below the waist within five yards of the line of scrimmage, you will incur a 15-yard penalty known as an illegal crackback block. The regulation was put in place in 2012 with the intention of protecting defenseless players from severe lower-body injuries.

On a running play to Isaiah Pecheco, Kelce hit Hunter exactly where he needed to be — below the waist.
Fortunately, Hunter avoided harm.
