Rabbitohs exclusive new three-year deal announcement

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are excited to announce that a three-year exclusive affiliation agreement has begun with renowned Rugby League school Keebra Park State High School.
This affiliation will allow the Rabbitohs to expand their elite male and female pathways into south-east Queensland.

The male and female Rugby League academies at Keebra Park State High School place a special emphasis on the sport, making it one of Queensland’s top high schools for athletics.
In addition to the talent from the South Sydney district and other recruited players from New South Wales and beyond, the Rabbitohs will be able to increase its reach into Queensland thanks to this partnership for elite young players and coaches.

Students from Keebra Park State High School will have access to opportunities for elite development through the Rabbitohs coaching staff, a route to the Rabbitohs South-East Queensland Elite Player Development Program, potential playing contracts with the Rabbitohs, and the chance to work in the community and pursue excellence under the Rabbitohs banner.
Along with the coaches of the Rabbitohs, Keebra Park State High School’s coaching staff will also have opportunities for professional growth.
All of this is done with an eye toward producing the Rabbitohs’ NRL and, eventually, NRLW teams’ future players and coaches.

Some of the best Rugby League talent from the past 20 years has come from Keebra Park State High School, including current Rabbitohs player Jai Arrow, former Rabbitohs players Ben Te’o, Benji Marshall, Jesse Arthars, Tautau Moga, and Jaxson Paulo, as well as representative players Payne Haas, David Fifita, Reece Walsh, Zahara Temara, Moeaki Fotuaika, and AJ Brimson.

According to Brock Schaefer, Chief Operating Officer of the Rabbitohs, this exclusive affiliation agreement with Keebra Park State High School will help South Sydney produce elite athletes at the highest levels of the game.

With the best rugby league school academy in Queensland, this is a fantastic opportunity for the club to broaden its pathways into Queensland, according to Mr. Schaefer.

Boys and girls from Keebra Park State High School will have the chance to access elite coaching through the Rabbitohs, giving us the chance to help cultivate the best young, elite playing and coaching talent in the sport.

“We determined that continued and increased investment in our elite pathway programs is essential to our success at the NRL and senior levels within our Club in our strategic plan and most recent review of the football department. This exclusive affiliation agreement will improve the work we’re already doing in this area and, in the not-too-distant future, will offer advantages at the top levels.

We are very excited about this partnership with Keebra Park State High School, which will be overseen by Tyrone McCarthy from our end.
Tyrone has extensive experience in building academies as well as Queensland Rugby League, and we can’t wait to start as we prepare for season 2024 and beyond.

The head of the rugby league academy at Keebra Park, Peter Norman, is also anticipating the collaboration with the Rabbitohs.

The exclusive partnership agreement with South Sydney has us incredibly ecstatic.
While the exclusivity of our agreement will ensure we can continue to attract, keep, and develop the best talent well into the future, Mr. Norman said that both organizations share similar values based on caring for our stakeholders and community.

Not only will our students be able to pursue a professional sporting career with the most successful NRL team in Rugby League history, but they will also have access to the Rabbitohs’ market-leading health and wellbeing programs, which will further advance their overall development as well-rounded individuals.
