Indianapolis Colts handed major blow as owner provides worrying injury update

As the owner provides a concerning injury update, the Indianapolis Colts suffer a major setback.

Anthony Richardson, the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, has missed two games due to injuries.
His impressive rookie season may be coming to an end as a result of shoulder surgery.

Owner of the Indianapolis Colts Jim Irsay has disclosed that Anthony Richardson will probably require surgery to end his season.

In the Colts’ most recent victory over the Tennessee Titans, Richardson left the game in the second quarter with a shoulder injury that the talented rookie quarterback had suffered.

At the time, a shoulder injury to the 21-year-old was thought to have occurred, though it was not initially considered to be very serious.
However, recent reports indicate that Richardson may have a long-term injury and will likely require surgery, which will likely end his season.

The majority of the time, he’ll likely be away for the entire year, according to Irsay.
Although it’s not certain, [he] probably won’t play this year, so we’ll have to deal with that possibility.
“.

The team hoped Richardson would be placed on Injury Reserve, which would keep him out of action for at least four weeks as he recovered, following the diagnosis of a Grade 3 AC joint sprain to his shoulder.
However, he has been advised that surgery is the best course of action, as it will allow him to return to full health by next season.

Shane Steichen, the head coach, said: “We are working through the process.
To move this organization forward, we want to do what’s best for him and both of them. As we previously stated, we’ll decide when the time is right, and we’re still assessing that process.

It would be a major setback for the Colts, who have watched Richardson have a promising start to his NFL career after being selected with the fourth overall pick. Richardson had very little experience going into his rookie season, having started just 13 games in college during a difficult final season with Florida.

Richardson is a powerful athlete with a strong arm who has only committed one turnover while scoring four rushing touchdowns and three passing ones.
In place of the impressive rookie, the team will now turn to Gardner Minshew, who has struggled, with the Colts possibly in trouble the rest of the season.

The Colts front office may be looking at the loaded 2024 NFL Draft class, which includes generational prospects at wide receiver, tight end, offensive tackle, and pass rush.
That might not be the worst thing for the team, though, as they are unlikely to make a playoff push this season.
