Alternating Goalie Starts is the Route the Boston Bruins Choose

Arguably, the NHL’s best goaltending tandem is that of the Boston Bruins.
The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is Linus Ullmark.
Additionally, the pair’s victory in the William M.
Jennings Trophy last season was greatly influenced by Jeremy Swayman.

In their two games this season, they have allowed a total of three goals and are 2-0.
Together, they are a deadly one-two punch in the cage.
Although Swayman was given more of a workload than the typical backup, Ullmark started the majority of the games in the previous campaign. Could the two alternate starts be used for the entire 2023–24 season?

It has been effective that the two have had a fairly similar workload.
Over the past two seasons, Ullmark has played in 90 games and Swayman in 78.

For head coach Jim Montgomery, a platoon makes perfect sense.

It makes the most sense to give Swayman more starts in goal as he is approaching his prime and is currently in his third full season with the team.
Despite being a year older and having never started more than 48 games in an NHL season, Ullmark recently won his first Vezina trophy.
It just seems like the most sense and the best thing for the team that Boston switches around the two goalies as much as possible.

It’s crucial to keep your players as fresh as possible during the demanding 82-game season.
Because you always have a new goalie in net for every game, switching between the two not only keeps them fresh but also helps the team.
The events of last season’s conclusion provide yet another compelling argument in favor of the alternating approach.
Ahead of the playoffs, Ullmark was obviously not the same person, was obviously exhausted, and had tweaked his hip.
By switching up both net minders during the season, that could be prevented.
