Report: Steelers CB Desmond King on his way out of Pittsburgh
Following Desmond King’s tweet on X, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero clarified that, in the event that a trade couldn’t be arranged, the Pittsburgh Steelers would release the cornerback.
If the Steelers are unable to find a trade partner, they intend to release veteran CB Desmond King, according to a source.
53 of King’s 98 career games have been starts.
A knowledgeable nickel is on hand.
King, who was cut by the Houston Texans in August, was signed by Pittsburgh.
King was a 2017 fifth-round selection by the Chargers.
In Week 5, King’s only defensive play was a touchdown to Baltimore Ravens running back Justice Hill, even though the Steelers have one of the worst secondary in the NFL.
His main role was to return kicks; he had four for 88 yards in this category.
King’s services are no longer required because Anthony McFarland is anticipated to rejoin the 53-man roster.
The Steelers will need to make a matching roster move after activating McFarland from injured reserve.
