Angry Fernando Alonso makes sweary phone call to FIA president Ben Sulayem

An angry Fernando Alonso called FIA president Ben Sulayem and swore.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has revealed that two-time world champion Fernando Alonso often calls him when he is upset about Formula 1 issues.

At 42, Alonso is currently the only driver on the grid under the age of 40, while Lewis Hamilton is the second-oldest driver in F1, four years younger than the Spaniard.
Still, he shows no signs of slowing down.

In an interview with Spanish news channel AS, Ben Sulayem said: “Fernando is a real role model for young drivers.
He’s been in Formula 1, he’s gone, he’s back and he’s stronger than ever.
It is very complicated. F1 is extreme.
“He’s not just a champion, he’s also intelligent.
I’m not saying there aren’t others, but Fernando is a real intellectual champion who is good for the sport.
When he gets angry, he calls me.
“Boss! President!”. And utters a few expletives.
“But we understand their frustration because we are drivers.
He is very good at the sport, well spoken, has good ideas and cares a lot about the sport.
“In addition to his speed and the progress he brings to the team, he is undeniable.”

Unfortunately for Alonso, there was a lot of excitement after competing in the United States Grand Prix on Friday.
Aston Martin’s weekend was marred from the start when both cars suffered performance-limiting issues during the crucial afternoon FP1 session.
These problems prevented the Aston Martin drivers from achieving positive results in qualifying. Stroll took the checkered flag and finished 19th, while Alonso was two places higher in 17th.

Alonso has featured in Q3 in all 17 races so far this season, but his first exit of the season in Q1 frustrated the legendary Spaniard and left the team with no chance of holding on to the points on Sunday. He explained: “I had a terrible session.

“Lance hasn’t rapped at all, and I’ve only rapped six or seven times with the new pack.
There are too many people who are not familiar with the package and the new car.
“I think we went into qualifying a bit blind and this result is clear.”
