Great move by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Indianapolis Colts acquired Zack Moss from the Buffalo Bills at least at the NFL offseason trade deadline.
In the deal, the Colts also sent Nyheim Hines to Buffalo in exchange for a conditional 2023 sixth-round pick. Hines has been very versatile throughout his career.
Not only is he part of the running game, but he also serves as a receiver and kick returner.
Last season, he had two interceptions in Week 18 against the New England Patriots.
But the former NC State star is out for the season after suffering a knee injury in a jet ski accident last summer.
Meanwhile, Moss has emerged as one of the Colts’ best players this year and looks like a future Pro Bowler.
Zach Moss continues to be great for the Colts.
He started his career as a reserve player.
The Buffalo Bills selected Moss in the third round (86th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft after rushing for 1,000 yards in each of his last three seasons in Utah. He played 2 1/2 seasons for the Bills, starting just 3 of 31 games.
The Florida native supported Devin’s single. He also shares one of the best rushers in the league with superstar Josh Allen.
Zach Moss played in eight games for the Colts last year.
Started three games in place of the injured Jonathan Taylor.
He had a career-high 114 rushing yards in a Week 18 loss to the Houston Texans.
Moss threw for 917 rushing yards and eight touchdowns during his tenure in Buffalo and wasn’t expected to make much of an impact.
Little did fans and pundits know that he would later become a household name in Indianapolis.
A force to watch this season
2023 has been a breakout year for Moss so far.
In Week 7, he was second in the league behind Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers.
Zach Moss rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown in an impressive road win against the Baltimore Ravens.
Colts quarterback Matt Gay, who became the first player in NFL history to kick four field goals of 50 yards or longer, was the star of the game, but Moss’ contribution to the victory should not be forgotten.
Taylor made his season debut in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.
The 2021 NFL tight end missed the first four games of the year while on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Moss eventually got Taylor’s attention on the return and set a career high with 165 rushing yards along with two touchdowns in a 23-16 victory.
Colts rookie Anthony Richardson is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury.
This means veteran Gardner Minshew will join the team as a starter.
The 3-4 Colts could find a way to make the playoffs this year even without Richardson.
If Moss can continue to play at a high level and Taylor shakes off the rust, Indianapolis could have a dangerous one-two punch that can keep the team competitive at the running back.
