The Miami Dolphins will likely lose two stars this season due to NFL IR rules.
The Miami Dolphins will likely lose Chris Brooks this season due to NFL IR rules.
The Miami Dolphins currently have a number of players on IR and can only activate eight of them to return for a season.
Who returns will determine which players don’t.
The Miami Dolphins have two big problems with their roster as it relates to the injured reserve players.
The first requires to the Dolphins to make moves on the roster, in other words cuts, to bring a player back to the 53 once they are able to return.
The second problem is that Miami can only bring back eight players for the season.
Miami currently has eight players on IR, with Jeff Wilson and Robert Jones both activated from IR.
They have six moves remaining.
Jalen Ramsey will be added as early as this week but more likely next.
Then there are 5 more moves to make.
UPDATE: I love being wrong about players! The Miami Dolphins are bringing back Cracraft, who began his 21-day stint back from IR this week.
Bringing Cracraft back makes sense as he is a solid possession.
The previous title of this article mentioned Cracraft, but we now know that was not the case.
Nothing else has changed in the article.
Current list of dolphins in IR.
of pon ahane
Theron Armstead
Chris Brooks
river boats
Keyon Crossen
Zeke Vandenberg
Isaiah Wynn
This list cannot simply be reduced to zero.
The Dolphins need to be smart about the players they bring back to the roster after being cleared to return.
We can assume that Vandenburgh is not the returning player.
The Dolphins have a long season left, so they could either leave a spot open or cut the player by taking him off IR. The idea behind the IR spot is to allow teams to fill a roster spot until a player is healthy, but if they run out of activation options, they have to move that player to the 53rd spot and take a roster spot until they do . healthy return
Looking at the players currently on IR and the other five spots, we see River Cracraft, Eric Ezukanma and Chris Brooks could be out for the year.
Why?
It’s simple math.
Isiah Wynn will be needed back at some point unless Miami brings in a new left guard before the trade deadline.
A possible but unlikely scenario.
De\’Von Acane and Terron Armstead will both return after the bye week.
Three, including Wynn, left Miami with only a possible return, and the season is still young.
As for Brooks, the Dolphins get Jeff Wilson and Salvon Ahmed back, so they won’t need another RB once Achane returns. Miami could save a shot if they have to bring Brooks back later due to injury.
Keion Crossen likely won’t be back either, given Ramsey’s return and the depth at the position right now.
Miami could play this waiting game.
In other news, former Miami Dolphins linebacker Chase Winovich announced on Tuesday that he is retiring from the NFL after five seasons.
He was released last week by the Dolphins.
