The Steelers are chasing a blockbuster trade.
Former NFL GM Steve Keim is urging the Pittsburgh Steelers to make a blockbuster trade before the deadline that could change the defensive landscape this season and beyond.
Despite expecting the team to want big money in return, Keim believes the Steelers should make a trade with the Denver Broncos to acquire Patrick Surtain II.
The team is currently believed to want more draft picks in the early rounds, but that shouldn’t change their minds about trading.
“If you look at a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers, they’re not the sexiest team on paper, but if you look at their last game, they gave up too many yards,” Keim said.
“So the second year was a very difficult one. To me, a guy like Patrick Surtain is someone I think could do well because of the talent at that position.
Talent is hard to come by at that position and this team struggled to cover games, going 4-2.”
Trading Surtain would be one of the biggest trades the Steelers have ever made.
They traded Minkah Fitzpatrick for a first-round pick, but Surtain could be multiple.
But the 23-year-old is a proven star in the league alongside junior Joey Porter.
He could add significant talent to the Steelers’ cornerback position.
