Bruins Star David Pastrnak Makes Admission After Empty-Net Goal
Sometimes it’s better to be happy than okay. Just ask Bruins superstar David Pastrnak.
In fairness to Boston’s leading scorer, he got lucky and had a good game Saturday night at TD Garden.
Pastrnak scored a nice free kick in the Bruins’ win over the Detroit Red Wings, but his second lamp of the night was a product of luck.
The 27-year-old was on the ice for the final minutes of the first six games as the visitors attempted a comeback by pulling their goaltender late in the game.
Near the end of his shift, Pastrnak threw the puck off the backboard and saw it slide into Detroit’s net.
Pastrnak is the best scorer, so any complaints about intent will be upheld. But after Boston picked up its seventh win of the season, Pastrnak admitted he just wanted to clear the zone and catch a break.
“I tried to get the puck out,” Pastrnak told reporters.
“I’ve been there for a while and honestly, I just wanted a change.”
This incredible goal led Pastrnak’s teammates and coach Jim Montgomery to believe that the three-time star was a great pool player.
However, Pastrnak has actually proven to be “terrible” in pocket pools.

Pastrnak will look to add to his streak on Monday when the Bruins and Florida Panthers meet for the first time since the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs.
