Jaguars Fire Back at Steelers WR George Pickens
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens appears to be in contention with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens could be in trouble with the Jacksonville Jaguars before the game after making comments about the defense.
Before the team’s Week 8 game, Pickens was asked about the Jaguars’ secondary.
He replied that he had a “defence of hope”.
βI think they rely a lot on their D-line,β Pickens said.
βTheir team has a lot of first-round picks on their D-line, so they’re relying on a lot of things. They hope.
They hope the boys will stay long enough.
That protects that.
the hope.”
The Jaguars seem to have gotten some answers after hearing the pregame comments.
“That was an interesting choice of words,” safety Andre Sisco said.
Coach Doug Pederson also said the comments were a little harsh, and Mike Tomlin gave the impression he should have instructed his players not to say such things to the media.
“I’ve seen it, but I’ve never heard from the team,” Pederson said.
“I don’t know.
I’m sure they saw him.
I still have to go play as a result. You have to go play.
I try to coach people and I know Coach Tomlin [Steelers coach Mike Tomlin] is trying to do the same thing.
You should teach your boyfriend not to share such information and keep it to himself. At the end of the day, you still had to play, play and execute.
It will be so.β
Pickens is coming off back-to-back 100-yard games.
Now that Jacksonville’s defense is fully focused on stopping the second-year pro, it will be interesting to see where this back-and-forth begins.
