Deion Sanders wants better protection for Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders after UCLA’s sack-filled win

Colorado coaches have called for improved play from the offensive line.

No college football team performs better than Colorado. After Saturday’s loss to UCLA, Buffalo coach Deion Sanders urged his team to improve their play in the frontcourt. Quarterback Sheder Sanders had seven sacks and more than a dozen tackles in a 28-16 loss at Los Angeles.
“We’re very happy and proud of the kids,” Sanders said, via the Buff Stampede.
“They stay there as young as possible. We have to improve our offense. Our defender was hit. In his spare time, he received injections to relieve the pain. I probably can’t say everything, but I’ll keep it at 100.
“We have to protect it better,” he said.

With four games remaining, Colorado (4-4) would need to split its remaining games to qualify for bowl action, but that’s not what the Buffaloes are focused on, Sanders said. Improving every week, finding more rhythm in attack and avoiding defensive mistakes is crucial for the future, he said.
Here’s what Sanders had to say after the game and how to move forward.

Opening Remarks (continued)

“The UCLA Bruins are playing great and I have a lot of love and respect for their coach.
He is a great coach.
I’m glad our match is finally behind me because I can finally call him and ask him for advice.
He is one of those real people.
You can learn a lot from him because he is one of the good guys. He knows what he’s doing.
Today we played with our brains.
I am proud of these young people. I know I missed a few books, but that’s no excuse.
There has to be enough depth to achieve what we want to achieve.’

play on the offensive line

“Not just the depth, but the killer instinct, the desire, the will, the athleticism … the most difficult thing is the (offensive) line.
I think there are a few guys who could do well with a little spice, but overall we just don’t have the drive or passion to do what we want. I think we have the best quarterback in the country.
I don’t think any other quarterback can handle it week in and week out like we can.
We need to solve this problem.
We need to approach this plan smartly and functionally, taking into account what is at stake, and we need to do better.
It really is.\”

to defend Colorado

“I made some big mistakes when Shiloh quit.
He is one of the most important communicators in the backfield.
It was a big blow for us because he is one of the leaders behind the defense.
He is an actor.
He is a dog.
I’m not going to complain about the official currency.
Because to me, those guys have the hardest job in America because the game moves so fast.
Shiloh’s catches at the rim and on target, I’m still skeptical about those things.
I think it had a big impact on the outcome of the game because losing that level of safety is a huge blow.
We need to do a much better job not only offensively and defensively, but also as coaches of the game.
I take full responsibility for that.”

Matches UCLA on run-pass balance

“This is a battle to move the ball and we have to figure it out.
Because now it’s easy to shut down a team when you’re one-dimensional and one-dimensional.
Who are we at this moment?
Why join? I think we engaged him the first, second and 15th. First downs are very important.
The first drop is everything.
“When we held them steady on first downs, it was hard for them to move the ball.”

Travis Hunter’s two blocking tips

“Travis is Travis.
I tell you this.
There are some kids I don’t pay attention to. Their games and attitude.
I know he’ll be back.
He was coming off an injury, and when he came back he took the offensive side of the ball much more seriously than the defensive side of the ball.
He came prepared today and performed a Travis Hunter show.”

How to use Shiloh Sanders for targeting

“They have to keep it. If you keep it low there is no doubt. I don’t think it’s his fault because he completely turned his shoulder. He always is. He knows how to hit.
I told him I was proud of him.
He made the damn game.
He dominated on the defensive side of the ball.
While this situation is unfortunate, I am proud of his efforts. I don’t ask my kids to be the best on the field, I ask them to be the best.
And he gave us the best.”

About hiring talent in Los Angeles

“There is talent everywhere.
I am interested in all fields. All the children. I love Florida without focusing on one area.
Because Florida is where I was born.
You all know that.
There are outbreaks everywhere, but there are many people and teams looking for and finding these children.
“Everyone knows we’re not hard to find.”

We are trying to win the trophy with four games left.

“It doesn’t matter if there are no dishes. We are trying to win. For example, no… we don’t say…
We are trying to win.
We came into halftime and had a few bursts in the second half, but the guys played great.
I really did.
They played their ass off.
We have made many mistakes and we know we can do better. We made some big defensive mistakes that allowed them to do what they did.
I think it’s improved overall.”

About writing the show for the first season

“We train and teach all the time. Every game teaches us a big lesson.
Everyday life teaches us great lessons. I think they read at a fast pace.
Unlike most first-year coaching staffs, we have high expectations and are prepared to meet them.
I was close.
I did a great job. You can see what we have and what we are building.
I know what you need.”
