3 Players Indianapolis Colts plan to Trade Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline
Before the trade deadline, the Indianapolis Colts should consider moves for three young prospects that could affect the future of the team.
The Indianapolis Colts have a mediocre 3-5 record this year.
It is now the third straight loss for the Colts after a 38-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
As the NFL trade deadline approaches (Oct.
31), some players could make an impact on a young Colts team.
Here are three names worthy of Indianapolis:
CB Khair Elam – Buffalo Records
Khair Elam was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round (23rd overall) in 2022 out of Florida. However, he has not been linked to Buffalo thus far and has been mentioned as a trade candidate in several sports papers.
Colts need big help at CB.
Elam could get a fresh start with a team that has the potential to make an impact.
Elam has now appeared in 16 games (eight starts) and has recorded 55 tackles, two interceptions and four passes defensed in his short career.
Will we ever see Indianapolis do that?
Considering he has yet to reach his potential and is only 22, this is a great name and should be on Elam Indy’s radar.
WR Terrace Marshall Jr. – Carolina Panthers
Terasa Marshall Jr., third year, NFL WR.
Carolina was on a Panthers team that lacked consistency while at QB.
In short, now is the time for change.
With solid size and speed, Marshall (much like the aforementioned CB Elam) could use a fresh start and vertical player to lead guys like Shane Steichen. Not to mention that future NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Reggie Wayne would be his position coach.
Marshall is 6’2″ and weighs north of 200 pounds and can come in and make plays. Josh Downs is obviously the Colts’ slot receiver and Isaiah McKenzie is primarily a kick/punt returner.
With Alec Pierce not playing at the level expected, will Marshall be able to push him or will he fare better in a Steichen-led offense?
In his NFL career, he appeared in 33 games, catching 62 passes for 751 receiving yards and 1 TD.
Indy may need more playmakers for QB Anthony Richardson, and Marshall makes a lot of sense given Carolina’s situation.
CB Jaylen Johnson – Chicago Bears
Yes, this is the second corner. With Indy being so bad right now, why not put Chicago Bears CB Jaylon Johnson next to Kenny Moore II to help the Colts defensive woes?
The four-year pro and former second-round pick out of Utah recorded 45 tackles (all starts), 143 tackles, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, 35 passes defensed and one pass defensed.
Needless to say, given Chicago’s desire to keep young players, they are unlikely to get rid of Johnson in my humble football opinion.
But he could get a nice return by trading him, especially with a team as desperate at cornerback as the Colts.
Will we ever see Johnson in a Colts uniform?
It may seem like a long time coming, but as the NFL trade deadline approaches, crazy things happen.
