Angry Prime goes off about CU’s burglary, presses NCAA and Rose Bowl
The Colorado Buffaloes were sacked on Saturday, and Deion Sanders visited several groups during Tuesday’s weekly press conference.
During the Buffaloes’ 28-16 loss to the UCLA Bruins, someone entered the locker room and stole belongings from University of Colorado players and staff. In a video shot by Sanders’ video crew, several players talked about the theft of chains, other jewelry and money.
“My kids were robbed at a game last week.
This is absolutely stupid,” Sanders said in his first public comments about the incident.
“I expect the NCAA to do something about it. These are students.
I’m sure they don’t think about insurance at this point in their lives.
We talked about NIL and bridal services and financial planners, but we entered the insurance space.
“I didn’t tell them.”
Sanders provided off-field counseling to help players transition out of football in the future.
However, even though Prime was found guilty of one aspect of the theft, he did not shame the perpetrators and instead condemned the NCAA and the Rose Bowl to take action.
“The kids are talking about what was stolen, and so is our staff, and we know that all of that has to be replaced,” the Buffs’ first-year coach said.
“This is a bowl of roses.
Is this the granddaddy of them all?
I’m sure my grandfather has money.
Grandfather must have money to give to these children.
These kids give me a list of the things they lost.
Maybe we can replace them.
I also heard a story about an owner being robbed, which is very funny.
You’re out there playing ball, you play your heart and soul, and then you get robbed.
“Make sure the NCAA does something about it,” Sanders said.
“Everything else is on you.” “Kids, we do different things when it comes to the NCAA.
Please do something.”
This isn’t the first time Sanders has run afoul of the NCAA.
Earlier this season, he criticized the governing body’s decision regarding the eligibility of CU linebackers.
With Sanders establishing himself as one of the greatest athletes of all time, he has a chance to make the NCAA run without much fear.
Colorado returns home for two games in the next few weeks before closing out the season against Oregon State and Arizona State. The Buffaloes need two wins to win for the second full season since 2007.
