Is T.J. Watt’s injury more serious than Steelers are letting on?
Pittsburgh Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt went off the team’s injury report on Oct.
19 with a heel injury and hasn’t been the ball we’ve been used to since.
The details of the injury are unknown, but it has limited his training for the past two weeks and could recur this week.
In game, this can affect his power and unit.
These are two important attributes of a hustler’s ability to perform at a high level.
Of course, not every outside linebacker gets a sack every week, but T.J. What is here?
He has ranked first in the league since the start and is a player who has recorded 34 sacks in just 2 games. Of course, there are countless other ways a player can make an impact outside of the pocket. Watt did it with two passes defensed and nearly six picks.
But surprisingly, Watt only hit .5 after suffering a heel injury.
Watt and Cleveland Browns quarterback Myles Garrett are currently tied for third in sacks.
Browns fans fear that Garrett is better than Watt, but the stats don’t back that up.
Let’s not let this season turn into one where he’s a letdown or, at worst, Defensive Player of the Year.
We never hear the end of it.
Let’s take a look at what he can do against a Tennessee Titans team behind starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Rookie Will Lewis sat out Week 8 and recorded two sacks in his career debut.
He also threw four interceptions and no picks, but is a major concern for Pittsburgh’s struggling secondary, which will be without leader Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Especially for the D-line unit, the 30th-ranked offensive line has 21 sacks between its two defensive backs.
Of course, a limited amount of power is better than no power at all.
We are excited to have him here and so is the Steelers defense.
This is not a criticism, just an observation.
Watt has been dominant but has slowed down in recent weeks.
Maybe, just maybe, heel injuries are a bigger problem for the Pittsburgh Steelers than they’re letting on.
